    What is energy? What kind of energy do we extract from the earth? How do we find it?

    Goals

    By the end of this section you will:

    1. Have a thorough understanding of the requirements to form oil and natural gas reservoirs, from deposition to formation of the reservoir;
    2. Be able to explain the processes geologists use to locate oil and natural gas reservoirs; and
    3. Have an appreciation for the environmental costs of oil and natural gas extraction.
