De Anza College is dedicated to creating learning materials that are accessible and benefit all students. Our materials follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Our authors and contracted accessibility specialists checked all resources using this ASCCC OERI checklist, the accessibility tool in LibreTexts, WAVE, JAWS, and other more detailed checks for complex materials such as interactive components.
We selected LibreTexts as our preferred platform because of its commitment to accessibility. In addition to the platform's inherent accessibility, we collaborated with the LibreTexts team to fix any accessibility issues we found.
Our Accessibility Review Process
Accessibility was built into the resource as it was written. This resource went through the following stages of review:
- Template check. The project coordinator and instructional designers checked the first chapter for accessibility as a model to ensure later chapters meet accessibility standards.
- Progress checks. The manuscript was checked at approximately 40%, 60%, and 80% completion to catch and correct accessibility issues in production.
- Specialist review. Once the manuscript was complete, an accessibility expert conducted an accessibility check.
- Remediation. The author and the project manager who conducted the earlier progress checks worked together to remediate the issues identified by the accessibility expert.
- Final check. The resource underwent another full check by the accessibility expert before the book was deemed ready for publication.
This process combines ongoing checks during writing with a final specialist review, so issues are caught early and confirmed fixed before publication.

A Note on Known Limitations
No accessibility check is perfect. We've made a genuine, sustained effort to catch and fix issues throughout the writing and review process described above, but some barriers may remain, especially in complex or interactive content. We'd rather be upfront about that than claim a standard of perfection we can't guarantee.
