W. Sean Chamberlin, PhD is an American oceanographer, professor, and author. He holds bachelor’s degrees in English and Oceanography from the University of Washington, and a PhD in Biology from the University of Southern California. Since 1996 he has taught oceanography, meteorology, and climate science at Fullerton College in Fullerton, California (a few short miles from Disneyland). Chamberlin has traveled four of the five major oceans (sorry, Indian Ocean) and carried out studies aboard Jacques Cousteau’s Calypso. He co-authored Exploring the World Ocean (Chamberlin and Dickey 2008) and has published numerous papers in ocean science and online education. Nicole Shaw
Nicole Shaw is an American cartoonist, writer, business analyst, and mother to four kids. She holds a BS in Bioengineering from UC San Diego. In 2017, she started @nickisdoodles, an Instagram feed featuring fun science facts and puppy comics. She currently works as a senior business analyst for a medical IT company in Durham, North Carolina. When not doodling or making computers behave, she helps her husband run their specialty coffee business, Olilu Coffee. Nicki’s website
Martha Rich
Martha Rich is an American artist, illustrator, and professor. She is a graduate of (and has taught classes at) the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and holds an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. She has also taught at Tyler School of Art and Architecture and the Fashion Institute of Technology. In 2019, Chronicle Books published her book, The Furious Notebook, Release Your Rage, Use Your Anger for Good and Chill the Heck Out. Her work has appeared in music videos, books, magazines, murals and in various products sold worldwide. In 2023, a collection of her work appeared at the Hey There Projects gallery in Joshua Tree, California. Martha’s website
