Figure \(\PageIndex{1}\): The upper surface of this bed has preserved ripple crests that are almost symmetrical. Within the ripple, laminae dip both to the right and left. The dip of laminae in both directions within the preserved ripple, plus the nearly symmetrical shape, indicate that this ripple was formed by waves.
