    Weather map.
Figure \(\PageIndex{1}\): Weather map for June 27, 2026. (National Weather Service.)

The weather map shows three significant weather systems, indicated by warm and cold fronts. Two mid-latitude cyclone systems are lined up and successively passing across the U.S. An air mass is approaching the west coast from the Pacific Ocean. Interpret the weather map by answering the following questions:

    1. Where are the L pressure centers of the two mid-latitude cyclones located, respectively?
    2. What states are the warm fronts of the two mid-latitude cyclones sweeping across, respectively?
    3. What states are the cold fronts of the two mid-latitude cyclones sweeping across, respectively?
    4. What is the weather condition at Chicago at this time? What will be the weather condition at Chicago in coming days?
    5. Which states are likely the warmest at this time?
    6. How should the air mass approaching the west coast be labeled using the two-letter symbol?
