    This is in Galax. Houses were constructed on this site shortly after this field trip. You can see some of the cabins/houses in the background. This is an amphibolite (massive boulders) with some schist on the left side of the first photo. This is on the other side of a hill from A1 B2 Schist (next stop).

    Garnet surrounded by hornblende and quartz. Look at the inclusions in the garnet porphyroblast.
